ANDY WARHOL.

POP ART.

On Monday, Alicia, Fernando, Sergio and I  were in the Contemporary Art Centre (CAC) in Malaga. There we saw some very interesting piece of art of this American artist that in 80’s played a important role in the birth of pop art.
The pieces of art that we saw were highly related to advertising.
An example is the piece of art of VW in which the artist makes a piece of art with the advert that the German car company made to sell  in America, showing the negative characteristics of the car.

James Dean, Rebel without a cause.

This famous piece of art in in the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) in New York.

Alicia, I don’t understand what you mean! Marina, thank you so much for this post.It is indeed connected with the topic we are handling in this unit. Warhol’s pictures are so related to advertising that they’re actually advertising turned into “art”. He really knew how to sell!!

That day, besides Lemon’s picture, the picture of the high-heeled shoes caught my attention… because the guide, who was explaining to us, told us that according to the person who saw this picture, he could give different meanings to it.

It’s funny to know how to change anything from your point of view and the point of view of the person beside you.
you realize that each person we are “one world”

I remember that when I was in CAC with María and Fernando on March and we saw the picture of the shoes, in a first time somedoby didn’t know that they were shoes!

  7. Alicia says:

    ohh :O I’m surprised!
How “that someone” did not know that they was?
Maybe you don’t know its meaning, but in the painting are clearly visible shoes, and you can “know” that they are women’s shoes.

I had to look very carefully to realize that they were shoes.

    • Mar says:

Yes Alicia, at the first moment I saw that it was a women shoes, but my friends had to look a second time!
      TAKE IT EASY!!
In the end everyone saw the shoes!
